My schedule has been very busy the last few days and I’ve been sequestered to the trainer for short quality sessions.

After about 45 min of  riding a tempo session on the trainer my rear tire blew out.  BANG! or maybe it was POP!  Regardless, it was load, especially being indoors.

I did have a slight warning, as I’ve been noticing the threads coming apart on the sidewalls of the tire.   I’ve seen this happen before, but I thought I’d have more time, and had planned on getting a new tire today anyway.

The tire, a Conti UltraGator  is about 1 year old.   The upside was still in good shape, but I think the constant friction on the roller of my trainer caused the sides to deteriate.   I’ll be hitting the shop tonight for a new one.
