This week is a rest week for me, completing the last of the Base periods. I’m now heading into the Build 1 phase. I’m feeling pretty good. I still have a lot to improve on, but I think I’m on target. I’ll find out where I really am next week in my first race, May 2, at the Chalk Creek Stampede.
I haven’t been doing much this week. I took Monday off, as I needed to recover from a good weekend of riding in Fruita.
Tuesday was a perfect day in the mountain. I was able to get out on the road bike in the early evening. I rode out to Nederland and back. This is such a good ride. It’s short, but if you ride it hard, it’s a perfect Muscular Endurance route. there are many hills in between, little time to recover and on the way back, it’s a 1500ft ascent from Ned to my home. Round trip it’s about 1:45, 30 miles and 4000 ft climbing.
The weather was perfect, around 50, sunny, and little wind. I’ve been waiting for evenings like this since October.
After finishing, I could tell my body wanted another day of rest. I felt pretty sore, more sore then I should have been for the effort I gave. An indication I needed more rest from the weekend. Here is a profile of the ride I did to need.

As a result of Tuesdays ride, I took wednesday off. Remember, this is a rest week. Thursday I headed to the gym for some strength work. I’m not sure about what will hold for the rest of the week. The weather is starting to turn again.
