Next Up – Crested Butte, Wildflower Rush

The Wildflower Rush in Crested Butte CO is a race I look forward to all year long.   It’s a super fun loop, hard climbs, and fast, fun descents.  I use this as a prep to other races in season, but consider it an A race.   This race will take me just under three hours with about 5500ft of climbing and 30 miles.   Last year I was 5th place in Expert/Cat 1 for my age category.  I hope to get on the podium this year.

In this weeks prepration, I’m entering a rest week.  I just completed three weeks of a Build 2.   My last ride was on Saturday at the Winter Park Hill Climb, which was then end of a four day block.   I got out yesterday for some Zone 4 Hill Repeats, and then a hard loop with more hills in zone 4.    I  was feeling pretty good, since I was well rested from last week and the weekend race    I was raining lightly and made the trails both sticky and slippery.  The wet roots made the downhills a little more challenging, but I stayed up right .
