About Me
Who is the coach?
My name is Curt Wilhelm and I live high in the Rocky Mountains West of Golden Colorado. Cycling has been apart of my life since I was four years old. I can still remember getting pushed down the driveway while learning to ride a bike. Over the years I learned that I loved being on my bike. I would ride long distances to friends houses, or just ride to explore new areas. Before mountain biking, I was into BMX and finding things to jump was a common activity. I even did a couple of BMX races at a local track.
After high school, a good friend introduced me to mountain biking. This was in 1988. We would ride the local open space trails almost daily, and do longer more challenging rides on the weekend. These were not epics by any mean, but we had a great time, and always looked forward to them. You can learn a little more about me by reading my profile on Training Peaks.
Why coaching?
I became a coach because I want help people. I want to share with people what I have learned over the years so they can advance their MTB skills. I have the ability to translate the technical aspects of training and how your body reacts to training into simple terms for athletes to understand. I understand the nutrition needs to get the most out of training and competition.
Racing
I race in the Cat 1 class in Colorado and neighboring states (UT, NM, AZ and WY) with the Trek Bicycle Store of Colorado.
